We asked ISSA a question: what was their primary goal of Live Scribing – to capture the valuable content, engage with an audience or have a live drawing performance.

Our Task

On a warm summer day, ISSA reached out to us, searching for Graphic Recorders to capture key insights during 4-days of the Social Security Summit in Panama. Our task? To visually document discussions on critical topics such as labor markets in the digital economy, social security advancements, retirement and pension reforms, workplace diversity, parental leave, aging populations, migrant workers, and innovation in the sector.

‘The one size that does fit all is universal social protection.’

Process of Graphic Recording at the Social Security Forum

Firstly, like all of our projects, we started this one with general brand analyses. Then we looked for visual inspirations online and created an ISSA mood-board of visuals and colours. Secondly, we studied the speakers and key members of ISSA to get a general overview of organisation.

Finally, together with ISSA representatives, we ordered a custom-made board for drawing by the stage and four boards for the artwork display in the corridor.

At the Social Security Forum, hosted by ISSA, we took Graphic Recording to the big stage, delivering a live visual performance to a global audience. As experts and policymakers tackled major issues like labor markets, pensions, workplace diversity, and social security innovation, we transformed their discussions into dynamic, real-time illustrations—bringing clarity, connection, and creativity to complex topics. Our visuals didn’t just capture insights; they kept the audience engaged, sparked new ideas, and turned abstract concepts into memorable takeaways. A truly powerful way to make ideas stick long after the event! 🚀

Social Security Forum, Panama, 14-18 November 2016. This for us only meant only one – an intense but exciting week of Visual Recording live in front of the global Social Security audience.

It was visually supporting globally important topics of Social Security. Put it in simple words: capturing and delivering visual content to people who shared the vision of humanity.

Lina and Kristina from Smartup Visuals were a fabulous addition to our event in Panama. They were the key elements of each day and creating an eye-catching visual summary for everyone to enjoy. It added a creative and engaging element to our global event.

4-day Graphic Recording Results

We asked ISSA a question: what was their primary goal of Live Scribing – to capture the valuable content, engage with an audience or have a live drawing performance. Primarily, it was the content capture and audiences engagement. At the end of the conference, ISSA used the artworks of each day as a summary plan. In addition, the ISSA team used our artworks in their case studies. Graphic Recording at Social Security Summit was a really empowering Global Social Security experience.
